Lazy Hazy Crazy Days...of Summer

This weekend was picture perfect! Chock full of activities and adventures...words alone would take way too long so, as they say, a picture is worth a thousand words!

Friday night dinner on the beach...need I say more! What a great way to end the week...I'll let the pictures tell the story, since in reality Wes cried the whole way there and the whole way home, sand was flying everywhere, and honestly trucking Wes, blankets, chairs, food, drinks, and baby gear the 1/2 mile from the parking lot was a little more work than it was worth...but the pictures sure do make it look magical!

I danced my way into Saturday with Sadie and Willa at there dance recital rehearsal! They are getting so big so fast..they wanted to run off and hang with their friends...Auntie was chopped Liver!

I finished off Saturday with Toy Story 3...sorry no cameras allowed! Luke had his first big boy birthday party! All his classmates were there and we had a great time! This mama kept moving into Sunday and ran another local 5k. We ran a route right by the house we grew up in, and along the way we were greeted by spectators we've known our whole lives! It ended at the snazzy new irish bar in town...and in true townie fashion Wes bellied right up to the bar!

Another great weekend!

Happy Father's Day!!!

Apparently I'm late in getting this post up! I apologize for the delay, but I wanted to be sure I had it perfect before sending it off into cyberspace! Anyway we had a great day surrounded by what else...food! In a shocking twist the smokers stayed quiet this weekend and the grill was fired up! We started Ryan's first Fathers Day off with a little sausage grave and biscuits. Captain, Papa, and Uncle Chris joined in the feast that I slaved over....ok ok you all know better than that...of course Ryan cooked breakfast, lunch...and dinner!! Believe me, I offered, but the grill is not my best friend and Ryan knew he should probably take charge of the flames! The day went well and we spent some time sitting by the pool, napping, and eating...all Ryan's choices. I suggested the farmers market, but apparently vegetables weren't on the day's menu...
I want to send a special shout out to Captain (aka my dad) you've done an amazing job fulfilling your promise to Mom. I appreciate all that you do for us on a daily basis. And to Papa (aka Ryan's Dad) thank you for being such a wonderful example to your son, I am lucky to be part of such a supportive family. And finally...to Ryan. You are an amazing father, and every time I see you look at Wes it makes me fall in love with you all over again....

Happy Happy!

Nothing too exciting going on around here...Wes has officially "graduated" from the brace clinic, which means no helmet for that slightly flat spot on his noggin. We have been exercising like crazy and I think the hard work paid off. He is rolling, reaching, lifting, and weight bearing on those strong little arms...we will have a pro football player before we know it! Well actually....with this kids hair he'll probably be a hockey player. I don't mind either way as long as he takes care of his mama! And speaking of mama...he is becoming quite the little mommy's boy. While puttering around today Daddy was keeping any eye on Wes...but as I came and went out of sight the lip started to quiver and down came the tears! I let him cry it out for a bit before I made a big show of Mommy swooping in and drying those tears. Every time I put him down and walked away the show would start again....although I got nothing done I secretly loved Daddy saying "I think he just wants to hang out with you!" So the laundry had to wait, and the rug went unvacuumed but I got to spend some quality snuggle time....

Daddy Day Care

I'm pretty sure these photos need no explanation, but I will humor you all with a little picture into what I came home to today. Yes, what you see is real my husband ripped the tab off the diaper and instead of just getting a new diaper he closed it up...with painters tape! Hey not that I'm knocking the whole waste not want not philosophy but seriously painters tape? Oh well thats what I get for leaving my babe for a whole weekend!

Weekend Wrap up

There was way too much going on this weekend to give any of it the due it deserves, but I'll do my best!!!!

We started off at the Cape Cod BBQ festival....Thanks to my Brother in Law we'll call this segment the "lonely life of a bbq wife!" In actuality I was surrounded by good family, good friends, and GREAT food...but I digress.... 2 weeks of straight competitions has left us craving some Daddy time! Check out the pics from the weekend...

The Boys of BBQ....

Daddy and his pride and joy...

Auntie Nikki's first bite of pulled pork...ever!

Getting ready for turn in time...a very serious business!

The boys took 10th in chicken and 20th overall...not bad for a competition full of veteran BBQ'ers and a chance to head to the Jack Daniels festival in Tennessee! Good job boys!

And moving on...Wes had his first taste of rice cereal....well in reality he has been eating rice cereal for months, but today we introduced the spoon! He did fantastic and really seemed to enjoy it! He was even following the spoon with his eyes!!
Before the first taste...

okay here we go...

hmmm...not so sure...

Lets try some more...just in case...

Yup...good stuff!!!!

So once I had a happy baby I decided it was time for a photo shoot...he was definitely up for the task and I have officially created a monster as he smiles when I say "Say cheese"!

I Do

Hubbs and I celebrated our 5 year wedding anniversary today! It's been a wild crazy ride and today was no exception! Ryan worked late and shopped his way home to get ready for another big BBQ weekend...he did manage to stop and get me a gorgeous hydrangea though. I spent the day working, running errands, and capped it off with Luke's graduation from preschool! Maybe someday in the near future or at least before our 6th anniversary we'll get out and celebrate, but until then we have BBQ competitions to win, weddings to attend, and parties to cater!

Wes and I also got to meet Baby Cam today...what a cutie, another boy who looks just like his Dad! mom and Baby are doing great, its amazing to see how quickly they turn in little people who smile and roll around! Wes looked like a giant next to him!

Thats all I've got for tonight...look below for a picture of me and Ryan on our big day! It was so long ago I actually had to scan the picture in!

Memorial Day

...and how memorable it was! I am still recovering hence the lack of posts over the past few days! Daddy hit the road for a big weekend of BBQ! Show me your Rack BBQ traveled all the way up to Rochester, NY to compete in the ROC city ribfest, and their first real BBQ competition. After 7 hours of driving, a few...okay ALOT...of beer the boys took 11th place out of 69 teams! Even with their "risque" style of selling Show me your Rack merchandise (insert inappropriate visions here) we are super proud of them and can't wait to join the team this weekend down the cape! Here are some of the publishable photos from the weekend!!!!

While Daddy was away mommy was also completing a memorable event of her own! I completed my first 5K road race! We spent saturday morning running along the sandy shore of Peggotty beach in Scituate! It was a great day and I finished in 32 minutes...not bad for a new mommy! It has inevitably sparked my excitment for running...although I feel like I may actaully keel over and die during the run I can't quite explain the way I feel after. For even just a few minutes the weight of everyday life is lifted and everything is perfect. A big shout out to Uncle Chris who allowed us to drop Wes off at the ungodly hour of 8am so we could get to the starting line in time! It was great to have my little man looking super cute in his whale outfit cheering me on! Enjoy the photos...ignore the giant red blotches on my face...

It was Auntie Nikki's first race too!!! Congratulations!

I also want to take the time to thank all the members of our military....past, present, and future. Without your sacrifice we wouldn't be free to spend a whole weekend perfecting the art of BBQ, or spending a sunny summer morning running along the beach.
